Using your Multipod as a Webcam with Instant Messaging Programs.

Before using your webcam with your instant messaging program please follow a few basic steps:

  • First make sure the webcam drivers for the Multipod are installed.  You can find instructions for installation and drivers either on the CD-Rom included with your Multipod or on this website.

  • Second make sure the Multipod is in webcam mode (CA) and connected to your computer via the provided flexi-cable.  Instructions for webcam mode are also included in the manual.

  • Third make sure that you have installed the latest version of your instant messaging program software according to the instructions provided with each program.  Currently the Multipod has only been tested with Yahoo and MSN.  Please click below to get the most current versions of these messaging programs. 

  • Finally, make sure you have signed up for an account and sign in to your instant messaging program.

FAQ/Troubleshooting

Issue: The Multipod will only store a few photos or a limited amout of information. All of the files on the Multipod have been deleted.

Response: The Mulitpod may have been formatted to a file format other than FAT16. Use your PC to reformat the Mulitpod 5 in 1 back to FAT16. To do this: insert the Multipod in to a USB plug on your PC-> right click 'start' -> select 'explore' -> select the drive letter for the Multipod -> right click the Multipod drive letter -> select 'format' -> in the File System drop down list select FAT or FAT16 -> click 'start'


Issue: Can the storage of the Multipod be increased from 128 MBs to 256 MBs or larger?

Response: No, the Multipod memory cannot be expanded.


Issue: How long will the battery last?

Response: During continuous operation the battery will last approximately 1 hr. In off mode the battery will last approximately 2 weeks.


Issue: What kind of battery is in the Multipod?

Response: It is a Lithium battery.


Issue: How is the battery in the Multipod charged?

Response: It is charged when the Multipod is plugged into a USB port of a powered on PC


Issue: Can the battery be over charged?

Response: No, the battery will stop accepting a charge when it is full.


Issue: Will the Multipod charge when it is plugged into a USB port and is being used as a webcam or transferring files.

Response: Yes, it will charge the battery when plugged into a USB port and is being used.


Issue: Can I take the Multipod 5 in 1 under water?

Response: The Multipod 5 in 1 is not water proof. You would have to put it in a water tight container before taking the Multipod 5 in1 under water.


Issue: Can the video images be rotated?

Response: Yes, they can with Windows Movie Maker or a more advance video editing software like Adobe Premier.
